CAPIO explores how objects and people transform space. The shapes, sizes, and weights of these ten vessels are inspired by the human form. They are similar to common vessels, in that they are containers defined by what they gather, carry, and release. The latin word, capio, translates to “I take in” or “I take on” or “I understand.” What we allow into and onto ourselves gives shape and form to our person. We carry the weight of words, expectations, loss, joy, love, hate, beauty, fear, longing, hope, and more. Like the ten vessels, what we take in and hold constructs our understanding of presence and purpose within a space. CAPIO reflects the human pattern of gathering, seizing and capturing what ultimately becomes our true self.
